My commitment to Santa’s Posse

September 28, 2014

It’s hard to believe that Fall is already here and that election day is only a few weeks away. As we enter the remaining months of 2014, I thought I would repost a campaign promise I made back in November of last year regarding the Sheriff’s Office Santa’s Posse program. Here it is:

“The holiday season is here! Thanksgiving is only days away and then we’re officially into the Christmas season. Of course this is a time of year when we’re thankful for all of our blessings but also mindful of those who are not so fortunate.

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office has a long history of partnering with various community groups to make Clark County a better place to live. One such partnership is Santa’s Posse between the Sheriff’s Office and Rotary Clubs of Clark County. Santa’s Posse collects and distribute toys and food to make a special Christmas holiday for less fortunate families in our community.

Typically a political campaign has to be a little careful in the promises it makes. No one wants to promise something in the heat of a campaign only to have that promise wither on the vine after the election. Well, here’s one promise I’m happy to make. As Clark County Sheriff I promise that Santa’s Posse will continue and will enjoy my full support. After all, you can’t put a price tag on bringing love and joy to a child.” (November 25, 2013)

I’m posting this now because I want to draw attention to Santa’s Posse and the upcoming need for donations and volunteer help. Please visit the Santa’s Posse Facebook page or website so you can track the key dates for donating toys, gift wrapping, and of course, delivery.

I also want to renew my commitment that, as your next Clark County Sheriff, I am going to continue Santa’s Posse with renewed vigor and support. Together we will continue to bring joy to disadvantaged families throughout Clark County.
